Filmmakers Michael Bridges and Alex Brown invite you to see the world a different way with professor Douglas R. Ewart, philosopher, creator, composer, musician, and performer, as he takes you through a series of meditations on life, death, and art.
Douglas Ewart, born in Jamaica, commutes from his current home in Minnesota to Chicago every weekend to teach his students, perform, and create. Our goal was to capture a filmic portrait of Douglas.
In an attempt to trace his familial roots back to his oldest living relative, Douglas takes a trip back to Jamaica. We decided to follow him and document his search. This serves as the narrative drive for the film and is woven together with performances and interviews recorded back in the States.
